SALTY

SALTY is a motor yacht built by Alalunga and refitted recently, and the work shows in the way she is arranged. The interior is contemporary and bright, with a main salon that opens directly onto the dining area, so the day moves from breakfast to dinner to an evening film without anyone changing rooms. It is a layout that makes good use of her volume, and it suits a family or a group of friends who want to be together without feeling on top of one another.

Her cabins sit below deck, and they are adaptable to the party aboard. The master is well appointed, and every cabin has considered storage, modern entertainment and a calm, restful finish. Guests tend to spend little time inside, though. SALTY has generous exterior space, with the aft deck set for meals in the open air and the foredeck left quiet for sunbathing or a book in the morning light.

The flybridge is where many charters settle. Cushioned pads for lying in the sun share the deck with a table for long lunches and a good spread of seating under the sky, so it works equally well for a drink as the light drops or for watching the coast slide by. Stabilisers work both at anchor and underway, which keeps a lunch stop comfortable and the passage between islands steady.

In the water, the choices are broad. There is a Jet Ski Seadoo Spark and a Seabob F5S for those who want pace, and SUP boards, a kayak, snorkelling equipment, a tube, a wakeboard and water skis for the rest of the party. A Zodiac tender takes guests ashore, and the inflatable platform makes a gentle way into the sea. Her crew, who have worked together over several seasons, are known for warm, unobtrusive service, which suits island-hopping in Greek waters and long evenings at anchor.
